Interview with Tim Kring, part 2

In which we continue to interview Tim Kring, and he talks about Adrian Pasdar and his wish for the fandom.

House Petrelli interview with Tim Kring - Part 1

Say what you will about Tim Kring, there can be no denying that his best-known show, NBC’s Heroes, has had its share of ups and downs.  Media sources crucified the creative downturn the show had taken, and many fans turned against the show and vilified its writers for the way they treated the characters.  When NBC released word that the show, though it was still loved by millions, was canceled, more than a few people blamed Kring for the cancellation.  After all, the buck stops with him, right?  Not exactly.

House Petrelli was favored with the opportunity to conduct a one-on-one, exclusive interview with Tim Kring at San Diego Comic-Con.  During the interview, the House gets to the bottom of some of the rumors that have been circulating around online media, and are given a rare glimpse of the man behind the Heroes curtain.

Tim Kring: Up Close and Personal

He's surprisingly soft-spoken and unassuming for someone who recently had the greatest superpower of all at his fingertips: The ability to create and destroy the world with the tapping of a few keystrokes. Tim Kring, the creator and showrunner of the NBC hit series Heroes, spoke on and off the record with House Petrelli recently at Comic-Con San Diego, and that two hours was filled with insight, and no small amount of nostalgia.

One of his biggest concerns was the ongoing misconceptions surrounding his love for the show, and his involvement in it. Some have been saying that he hasn't cared about the show since the end of season one, but not only is that not the case, statements like that hurt him deeply.

"You could ask my family about how they didn't ever see me," he said, concern evident in his eyes. "It was a brand as well as a show. It was a big machine in terms of publicity, and I had to float in different areas -- the writer's room, the set, various departments, doing interviews... A show needs a single voice, obviously, and as it went on that became more difficult."

An apology from Tim Kring to the fans

As many of you know, Tim Kring said some things at a recent screenwriting conference that, well, seemed rather insulting to the majority of fans. Especially those of us that watch the show live as it airs as opposed to later on DVR or the internet. Some of us don't have DVRs or an internet connection that allows us to watch it online, and it seemed especially insulting to these faithful viewers.

Mr. Kring has now graciously and humbly apologized for his comments, and we thought it was important that his apology get as wide an audience as possible. Click the link for the entire letter.
